Copilot Pro vs. ChatGPT Plus: $20 AI Showdown

Both versions come at the same price, but which one should you opt for? The decision hinges on your specific preferences and priorities. Let’s explore your choices.

Microsoft’s Copilot and OpenAI’s ChatGPT offer both free and paid versions. By subscribing to Copilot Pro or ChatGPT Plus for per month, you gain access to a variety of advanced AI-powered features not available in the free versions.

With either subscription, you gain access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo, real-time information retrieval, image generation with DALL-E 3, and the ability to analyze various document types. However, Copilot Pro and ChatGPT Plus each offer unique advantages. Here’s an overview to help you decide which one best meets your needs. To assist you in determining which option better meets your requirements.

ChatGPT Plus includes the following benefits:

Access to ChatGPT at all times, including peak periods Quicker response times

First access to new beta features Capability to analyze diverse file formats AI-generated image creation with a quota of up to 200 images daily Access to the GPT Store, offering over three million customized GPT models Option to create personalized GPT models.

  1. General access to ChatGPT, even at peak hours.
  2. Faster response times
  3. Early access to new beta features.
  4. Capability to analyse a range of file types
  5. AI image production, up to 200 photos each day.
  6. Access to the GPT Store, which has over three million bespoke GPTs available.
  7. Create your own customised GPTs.

Copilot Pro provides three main benefits, with a fourth on the way:

  1. Improved performance and prioritized access to GPT-4 and GPT-4 Turbo during peak hours.
  2. Copilot is available in some Microsoft 365 apps (a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription is required).
  3. Faster AI image production with 100 boosts (100 photos) each day utilising Designer, formerly Bing Image Creator.
  4. Microsoft says that users will soon be able to construct your own personalised and tailored Copilot GPTs using a new Copilot Builder tool. Currently, this feature is available exclusively with a Copilot Studio subscription, which costs per month.

You should use ChatGPT Plus if…

You want to be able to analyse and ask inquiries about any kind of file.

Copilot Pro restricts its AI-powered analysis to photos and Microsoft Office documents. For Office files, you’ll need a Microsoft 365 Personal (.99 per year) or Family (.99 per year) subscription. ChatGPT Plus enables you to upload and assess a wider variety of files, like Microsoft Office documents, text files, PDFs, photos, audio files, code files, and archived data.

You want to access bespoke GPTs from the GPT Store.

OpenAI offers a GPT store where you may browse and search for bespoke GPTs made by businesses and other subscribers. You can even use a specific GPT within an ongoing conversation.

Though not all GPTs are worthwhile, many offer intriguing and useful skills. At this juncture, Microsoft has promised—but does not yet offer—a special Copilot GPT store.

You desire to develop your own customised versions of GPTs.

Another benefit of ChatGPT Plus is the possibility to construct your own custom GPTs. The process is relatively smooth and simple thanks to ChatGPT’s AI-powered support. After you’ve created your GPT, you can use it privately, share it with others in your company or organisation, or put it in the GPT shop for other subscribers to try. Microsoft had stated that Copilot Pro customers will be allowed to build GPTs, yet this feature is still not available.

You need to generate more than 100 photos per day.

Copilot Pro generates up to 100 photos every day. That does sound like a lot of photos. If you need more, ChatGPT Plus allows you to create up to 200 photos per day, doubling the excitement.

You should use Copilot Pro if…

You subscribe to Microsoft 365 Personal or Family and want AI-powered help.

With Copilot Pro and Microsoft 365 subscriptions, the AI will assist you with writing, editing, and summarising documents in Word, generating formulas and analysing data in Excel, creating presentations in PowerPoint, composing text in OneNote, and drafting responses in Outlook. Although ChatGPT Plus can analyse Office files, the combination of MS Office with Copilot Pro is more powerful, effective, and user-friendly.

You want easy access from Windows

ChatGPT Plus and Copilot Pro are available as separate websites and mobile apps. But Copilot takes a step farther by integrating directly into Windows. Whether you use the free or paid-for version of Copilot, simply click the Taskbar icon on Windows 10 or 11, and Copilot will appear as a sidebar, ready to accept your requests.

You want more thorough and visually appealing information

Depending on your request, ChatGPT Plus will supply text, but not much else. Copilot Pro, on the other hand, is more likely to expand on the information with a more visually appealing design and layout.

For example, I asked both chatbots to pick the top 20 sights in London. ChatGPT Plus provided a numbered list and brief descriptions of each attraction, but no links. Copilot Pro provided a more entertaining and useful response, including links, photographs, maps, and sources for each attraction.

You wish to improve your image by creating talents.

Though ChatGPT Pro allows you to generate more photographs in a typical day, Copilot Pro’s image generating capabilities are significantly superior. By default, Copilot Pro’s Designer tool generates four different images from which to select, whereas ChatGPT Pro only generates one image at a time. Copilot also provides follow-up questions to help you improve the image. If you want to regenerate an image, Copilot allows you to select a certain style to use. Additionally, you may now edit your photographs right within Designer without leaving the programme.

You want more options for handling responses.

When you receive an answer from ChatGPT Pro, you may normally copy, regenerate, and rate it. However, Copilot Pro allows you to simply share it, export it to Word or another programme, and have it read aloud.

You want sources for the generated content

Ask ChatGPT to generate certain material, and it will answer. However, it will not always disclose the information’s source(s). Ask Copilot Pro to generate the same content, and it will clearly indicate its sources beneath the information.
